Formal requirements
- 180 credits

- Students require an above-average Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree in agriculture, natural sciences or a related discipline, based on at least three years of university studies or German FH studies.

- Over and above these general entry requirements, selection is based on grades, educational background and relevant professional experience. Additional professional qualifications may also be considered.

Study Programme
The two-year programme comprises four semesters. It consists of both compulsory and elective modules and the Master’s thesis. This ensures a strong focus of each of specialisations while leaving room for individual interest. Obligatory is at least one semester at one of the partner universities:

- University of Copenhagen
- DenmarkSwedish University of Agricultural Sciences
- SwedenUniversity of Natural Resources and Applied Life Science
- Austria University of Hohenheim, Germany.

The programme starts at the end of August with a compulsory on-week intensive introduction course “Environmental Management in Europe” in Copenhagen. The programme focuses on the relationships between natural resource uses in Europe and their effects on environment and health, and aims at providing analytical and management tools as well as environmental technologies for sustainable production systems in areas with high pressures on natural resources.

Water resources takes a central role in the programme as water quantities and quality is a powerful measure of pollutant loads and effect as well as mass and energy balances in agriculture, industries and households.

Objectives
The Master‘s programme aims at providing candidates who can work professionally with problem identification, characterisation and solving related to the use of natural resources, and based on insight in European ecosystems and principles used in current European environmental management.


Career Perspectives
Candidates qualify for environmental careers in private companies and the public sector related to:

- Analysis, monitoring and modelling
- Environmental technology
- Environmental regulation, planning and control
- Impact assessment and risk analysis
- Research and education

Environmental careers will be found in the environmental sections of industries, environmental technology companies consulting companies (agriculture, engineering), public administration from local to governmental levels, laboratories, universities and other research institutions, and in developing agencies.
