Formal requirements - 180 credits
- Applicants require an above-average Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree in agriculture or a related discipline, following at least three years of university studies oder German FH studies.
- Over and above these general entry requirements, selection will be based upon grades, educational background and relevant professional experience.

Contents The two-year M. Sc. Programme 'Organic Agriculture and Food Systems' consists of four semesters, during which 15 thematic modules and the Master’s thesis must be completed. Eight of the fifteen modules are compulsory and cover the core aspects of Organic Agriculture and Food Systems. The individual combination of elective modules gives each student the opportunity to tailor a specific profile, according to his or her own career aspirations. The problem-based interdisciplinary “Project in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems” constitutes a major focus of the programme.
Students who will decide on the double degree will have to spent the third and fourth semester at one of the three partner universities.Through their stay abroad, students gain a detailed insight into the organic sector in a second European country, broadening their life and work experience culturally and professionally.
Modules 1 + 2 Sem.: 8 compulsory modules - Economics and Environmental Policy - Markets and Marketing of Quality Food - Organic Livestock Farming and Products - Organic Plant Production - Processing and Quality of Organic Food - Project in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems - Social Conditions of Organic and Sustainable Agriculture - Principles of Organic Food Systems (Start-up-module for the participants in the double degree programme) or Organic Food Systems and Concepts (Start-up-module for the participants in the single degree programme) - 2 selective modules

Objectives Organic farming is based on a holistic approach and thus the processing and marketing of organically grown food requires special skills and knowledge. Graduates will acquire these knowledge and skills related to all aspects of the organic sector:
- organic crop production - organic animal husbandry - organic farming in the tropics - organic food chains and networks - influence of European policy on the development of organic sector - consumer demands - organic market development in different European countries
Career Perspectives Organic farming is a growing market. It requires persons with a profound knowledge of organic food production ,as well as of processing and quality control. Graduates will primarily find employment in:
- Food and cosmetics processing companie - Trade - Quality management - Extension services - NGOs or other associations - Research and teaching institutions - International organic certification
